Google Analytics Feature Guide
1. Introduction
Google Analytics is the Google website analytics tool integrated into the Webhub website backend. It helps you make data-driven decisions for website operations.
With Google Analytics, you can:
- Collect website visitor behavior data: such as traffic volume, acquisition channels, visit paths, and conversion actions.
- Perform deeper analysis in the Google Analytics console: review site performance by using reports such as Audience, Acquisition, Behavior, and Conversions.
- Quickly view key metrics in the Webhub Copilot: use the copilot and AI Q&A to access essential operating data without constantly switching back to Google Analytics.
This feature mainly helps you solve two types of problems:
- How to collect website traffic data correctly in Google Analytics (script setup).
- How to view and manage this data inside Webhub (copilot and configuration management).

2. Feature Overview
2.1 Setup Script
2.1.1 Overview
To make Google Analytics work properly, a tracking script provided by Google must be loaded on the front end of your website (this usually includes a measurement ID).
In the Webhub backend, you do not need to manually edit code or deploy files. You only need to complete a one-time setup, and we will automatically insert the required script into your site pages.
Typical use cases:
- Connecting Google Analytics for the first time.
- Replacing an old measurement ID or switching to a new property.
- Migrating from manually embedded code to script management handled centrally by Webhub.

2.1.2 Automatic Setup
In Automatic Setup mode, you can complete the script setup in just a few steps by authorizing with Google:
Step 1: Click "Continue with Google"
Sign in and authorize with a Google account that has access to Google Analytics.
Step 2: Select a property and measurement ID
After authorization is completed, we will read the list of available properties from your Google Analytics account.
You can:
- Choose the property name you want to bind to the current site.
- Select or confirm the corresponding measurement ID from the drop-down list.
Step 3: Save the configuration
After saving, the system will automatically insert or update the corresponding GA script on your site pages. No manual code changes or file uploads are needed.
Key advantages:
- Simple to use and friendly for non-technical users.
- Reduces copy-and-paste errors when entering the measurement ID.
- Future updates and authorization revocation can be handled from the same entry point for easier management.

When using this feature for the first time, you can create a new configuration in this module.

2.1.3 Manual Setup
If you cannot conveniently authorize with a Google account, or you only have a standalone measurement ID, you can also connect Google Analytics by using Manual Setup mode.
○ Enter or paste the measurement ID provided by Google directly on the page.
- What happens after you save:
Based on the measurement ID you entered, we will automatically generate and insert the corresponding GA tracking code into your site pages.
Best for:
- A technical teammate or third-party agency has already created the property in GA and shared the ID with you.
- You cannot, or do not want to, open the Google authorization page in your current environment.

2.1.4 Help Guide
In the Manual Setup section, we provide a Quick Access link to the Google Help Center so you can quickly complete the following actions:
- Learn the detailed settings of the current property, such as data streams, events, and conversions.
- Learn how to confirm or copy the measurement ID in the GA console

2.2 Google Analytics Data and the Webhub Cockpit
2.2.1 Overview
After you complete authorization and script setup:
- Website traffic data will be continuously collected through the GA script and sent to Google Analytics.
- The Webhub Copilot can summarize and display this data, or help you quickly retrieve operational metrics through AI Q&A.
If authorization has not been completed yet:
- You can still use the Quick Access entry in this document to open the Google Analytics console and view your existing data.
- However, the Webhub Copilot cannot directly access your GA data until authorization is completed in this module.
2.2.2 Automatic Setup - Webhub Copilot
After Automatic Setup is completed and authorization is active:
- The Copilot can read GA property data that is bound to your current site.
- You can view common metrics in the cockpit, such as sessions, users, bounce rate, and conversions, and make simple comparisons by time, source, page, and other dimensions.
- With AI Q&A, you can ask questions in natural language, for example:
○ "How has traffic from organic search changed over the last 7 days?"
○ "How has the homepage traffic trend changed this month compared with last month?"

2.2.3 Manual Setup - Quick Access
If you are using Manual Setup, you can still click the "Google Analytics Dashboard" entry in the interface to open the Google Analytics console and view your existing data directly.

2.3 Configure
2.3.1 Overview
After the initial connection is complete, you may still encounter the following situations:
- You need to switch to a different Google account or your permissions have changed.
- You need to switch to a new GA property or measurement ID.
- You no longer need to collect data for a site, or you want to temporarily stop data reporting.
The Configure section is used to manage these follow-up settings in one place, including updating the configuration, refreshing authorization, and revoking authorization.

2.3.2 Automatic Setup - Update Configuration
If you need to change the property or measurement ID that is currently bound, you can do so through Update Configuration:
- Click the "Edit" button.
- In the pop-up list, choose the target property and measurement ID again.
- After you save, we will automatically update the script loaded on the site so future data is sent to the new property.
Important notes:
- After the configuration is updated, the old and new properties store data separately. Historical data remains in the old property.
- If you need a full comparison, you must view the data for the two properties separately in the GA console.

2.3.3 Update Authorization
If you switch to a different Google account, or the original account permissions change, you can use Update Authorization to complete authorization again.
- In the Configure section, choose "Update Authorization".
- Sign in and authorize with the new Google account.
- After authorization is complete, make sure the property bound to the current site still exists and that you still have access to it.
This helps you:
- Restore the cockpit's access to GA data.
- Ensure that the list of available properties can still be read correctly during Automatic Setup.
2.3.4 Automatic Setup - Revoke Authorization
If you no longer want the Webhub Cockpit to access your Google Analytics data, you can revoke authorization here:
- After authorization is revoked:
○ We will stop reading your site data from GA.
○ GA data display in the cockpit, as well as AI Q&A related to GA data, will be disabled or limited.

2.3.5 Manual Setup - Update Configuration
If you are using Manual Setup and the measurement ID changes, you can update it directly in this section:
- Replace the old measurement ID with the new ID.
- After you save, the system will replace the script configuration on the site.
- New visitor data will be reported to the corresponding new GA property.
Typical use cases:
- The GA console has been migrated to a new property.
- Your data structure or measurement plan has changed, and you need to enable a new measurement ID.

3. Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose Automatic Setup or Manual Setup for the initial connection?
- Automatic Setup is recommended first: it is easier to use, lets you choose directly from the property list, and reduces ID entry errors.
- Typical cases for choosing Manual Setup:
○ You have already received the measurement ID from a technical teammate.
○ The current environment cannot open the Google authorization page properly.
○ Your company's security policy does not allow account authorization in this system.
After script setup is complete, how long does it take before I can see data in GA?
- In most cases, new data will appear in GA real-time reports or related pages within a few minutes to a few dozen minutes.
- If you have just connected a new property, data may appear with a slight delay, so please wait a little longer.
- If there is still no data after a long period of time (for example, 24 hours), check the following:
○ Whether the domain is correctly bound to that property.
○ Whether the measurement ID was entered correctly.
○ Whether your browser has an ad blocker or script-blocking extension enabled.
○ Whether the page is loading the GA script correctly.
What should I do if the data in the copilot does not match the data in the Google Analytics console?
Common reasons include:
- Different time ranges: the default time range in the copilot may be different from the one in GA, so align the date range first.
- Different dimensions or metric definitions: for example, metrics such as users and sessions can have slightly different meanings in different reports.
- Data refresh frequency: cockpit data is usually synchronized on a schedule, so it may lag slightly behind GA real-time data.
Recommended steps:
- First confirm in the GA console that the source data is normal.
- Compare the same metric over the same time range.
- If there is still a clear difference, contact platform support and provide screenshots of the exact time range and metrics for troubleshooting.
After authorization is revoked, will my previous historical data in GA be deleted?
No. Revoking authorization only stops Webhub from accessing your GA data. It does not delete any historical data that already exists in your Google Analytics account.
If you need to delete or clean up data, you must do that separately in the GA console.
After switching the property or measurement ID, will the historical data still remain?
After switching the property or measurement ID:
- New data will be written to the new property.
- Historical data in the old property will still remain.
- If you need to compare data across properties, view the data for both properties separately in the GA console.
In your documents or reports, it is recommended to mark the switch date clearly so later analysis can be reviewed in stages.
This document provides a general explanation of the feature. Specific field names, button labels, and the interface layout should always follow what is currently shown in the live backend.
